UNITY, PROGRESS AND DEVELOPMENT




OUR AIM AND OBJECTIVES


  • To promote and foster unity, peace and brotherhood among the entire Laka people of Nigeria.
  • To promote and preserve the cultural heritage, customs, language and traditions of the Laka. 
  • To provide a forum for exchange of useful ideas among the Laka or any ethnic group with the same linguistic affinity in any part of Nigeria.
  • To promote and enhance the human and material resources for socioeconomic, political and educational advancement of Laka. 
  • To network and collaborate with Government and other NGOs with similar objectives in furtherance of achieving the aims and objectives of the Association
  • To inspire, organise and execute self-help projects within the Laka.
  • To organise and embolden public enlightenment activities such as debates, seminars, traditional dances, sports, cultural shows, etc
  • To encourage self-reliance through self-employment; and inculcate moral values among its people. 



COMPOSITION


  1. The LAKA Ethnic Group and any other ethnic group in Nigeria that is of the same affinity or background and by whatever name it is called.
  2. Without prejudice to any other ethnic group in Nigeria, the term generally accepted is LAKA and shall be the official name of this Association in all the functions of the Association and in all its official dealings with Government or any other organization at the National Level
  3. Notwithstanding the position of (2) above, subject to the known name in other states of the federation, the Known and Recognized name shall be applicable in their case.



MEMBERSHIP OF THE ASSOCIATION


Membership of the Association shall be open to: 

  • All LAKA who are above the age of 18 and are Nigerians
  • Any woman who, though not LAKA by tribe but is married to a LAKA man
  • Any person whose mother is LAKA by tribe and who application for membership is approved by the leadership of the association

Any such person listed above becomes a member of the Association when his/her name has been entered in the register of members of the Association upon the payment of the registration fee.
